**updated** IMPORTANT: rare blood type needed for toddler heart surgery!

I just saw this post on my personal Facebook feed:

I am going to try to keep this short. As many of my friends/family know, Dylan’s surgery was canceled due to lack of blood in the bank. He is two and this will be his sixth open heart surgery. Here is an update as of today: He not only needs A- blood but CMV- blood. Only 5% of people have this “special” A-/CMV- blood. People and/or infants who need organ transplants or who have a weak immune system need CMV- blood. If you have had blood work, you can find out if you’re CMV -/+. CMV+ is actually dangerous to Dylan so unfortunately, it cannot be used even if you’re A-. FURTHERMORE, if you’re a match, the blood needs to be taken and used within two days of his surgery.
Right now, if you have this “special” blood and you’re willing to donate, please contact me. You can inbox me if you want to keep it private. Also, feel free to ask any questions!!!
I am partial, but my nephew is truly the happiest, sweetest little boy, to his little brother and everyone around him…especially for all he has been through. Thank you, everyone, for the support ♥

If you have this special blood type and are willing to help this sweet boy please e-mail sabrinamparsons@yahoo.com She is his Aunt who is a personal friend of mine.

We are in the Philadelphia area so local may be better but I’m sure this blood type is needed everywhere. If you can help, Please, Please reach out!

Thank you so much!!

***Update***

July 10th: Dylan has had the surgery, however, today he is having another. Please keep him & his family in your thoughts.

A blood drive in Dylan’s name is being held in New Jersey. I am adding in a photo of the flyer. If you are close enough to donate, please do! You never know who’s life you could be saving.

Also, Dylan has been sporting a mohawk while in the hospital. Many people have been sharing pictures with the hashtag #mohawksforDylan on the Facebook page set up to support Dylan & his family.
