Nesting

As most of you probably are, I am addicted to Pinterest. I can pin away for hours. Occasionally I actually take the time to cook or bake something delicious I have come across. There are even times I get crafty thanks to Pinterest. This weekend was one of those times.

I babysit Pippy who is NOT a good sleeper. On a good day she takes naps that are 30 minutes long. At night she is up several times. Sometimes you just have to give her back the bink, however, you have to wake up yourself in order to find it and give it back. Her mom & I have both been trying to figure out little tricks that may extend her sleeping.

The other day I came across this pin:

Sadly, I do not have the money to buy something this amazing at this time. What was I to do? Pull out my sewing machine and get crafty! The entire project was completed in a few hours with all materials I had on hand. Total cost: $0.

I went into the garage and found a scrap piece of wood, drilled holes in it and painted it. I went to the cabinet where my fabrics are and found some that I felt would work best. After some trial and error of pinning the fabric and sewing it, I came up with a design that seemed as if it would work. Once my Hubby was home he helped me to figure out a way to make it hang until he is able to make some sort of stand for it. In the meantime, today I have gotten 45 minute naps! I’ll take it! This is the little next Pippy has been napping in. I’ll gladly sleep in the couch tonight if she wants to sleep in it all night long!

Obviously, mine is much different than the original and given the choice, I’d want the real thing. For now, this works.

Have you ever gone to an extreme to get a baby to sleep better?

What are your best tips & tricks for sleeping babies?
