MOMables – A week in review

Last week I shared with you that my family received a complimentary subscription to MOMables to try out. When we did our weekly grocery shopping we took along the shopping list that came with 2 weeks worth of menus. This made shopping easy {The Hubby’s lunch part anyway. Dinner is another story} We only came across one thing he said he didn’t want so we skipped that one.
Monday Hubby is home & when lunch time rolled around he decided to try out something from the menu in advance. It was a hit! He told me he wanted the same thing in his lunch the next day for work. We have tried several different meals for him this week and he was very pleased with every one of them.

We do stray a bit from the exact menu based on needing to pack 2 meals a day for him most days. We also need to accommodate that I am feeding a Hubby, not a child.

We are extremely happy with our experience! I highly recommend MOMables to anyone who needs to pack lunch for their children, spouse or even for lunches at home. The variety of foods have been very well accepted by my Hubby. He is really enjoying that I’m packing him different things not only every day but for each meal of the day. It is so easy to just swap something out if it is not a favorite food or if you have an allergy to accommodate.

Here is his week in pictures:

Tuesday: 1 meal due to a provided lunch at work.
Wednesday: 2 meals {He did bring home a couple snacks}
Thursday: 2 meals {1 pickle & half carrots came home}
This is also Thursday’s. I thought you should see that I actually do pack it in a lunch box & I didn’t include his note in the 1st picture. He gets a note every day!!
Friday: 2 meals.
We can’t wait to see what this next week will bring for his lunch box!! Between a new weeks worth of menu items to try and those we still haven’t tried from the first two weeks, it should be a great week of food for him!

MOMables Introduction

MOMables is a Mom’s dream come true.

How often do you find yourself digging through your kitchen trying to scrape together something, anything to stuff in your childs lunchbox?
Do you tend to send the same boring foods day after day?
Does your child bring back home at least half of what you packed for them?
Do they come home complaining they are hungry because they tossed their lunch in the trash?

MOMables will cure all of that for you. It’s a super simple program to sign up with. You can subscribe for 3, 6 or 12 months. {Bonus: All subscriptions in October will go towards the cancer treatment of a young boy named Joseph Scott} Once you join you will be provided with a weekly menu full of a variety of healthy choices in just the right portions. Each recipe allows for substitutions if you have a picky eater, food allergies or other dietary restrictions. Once you have looked over your menu for the week, they even give you a shopping list of exactly what you will need to buy for that weeks meals. I don’t think it could get any easier. Well, maybe if they were going to come do the shopping and packing for you but, we do live in reality.

I am actually going to be using MOMables menu in a slightly different way. The school my son attends provides lunch daily so I do not have a need to pack for him. My Hubby however, I pack him both lunch and dinner 4 days a week due to his schedule. Saturdays he goes in earlier and I am too lazy to get up and pack him a lunch so he must eat out EVERY Saturday. Luckily he is home in time for dinner that day. I pack the same exact things in his lunchbox for both meals every day. Boring! I also am really bad about packing him healthier choices and worse with portion control!

This weekend as we are making our grocery list I am going to print out my MOMables shopping list and take it along. Next week, starting on Tuesday I will be packing according to the plan. Obviously, with him needing 2 meals a day, I will be alternating the weeks items to each be used more than once. I will NOT pack two of the same meals the same day. I will do my best to take pictures of his meals each day & report back to you at the end of the week how it has all worked out for us. Was it too time consuming? Did it simplify my morning? How did he feel about the variety of foods? Did he find them tasty? How much will I have to adjust the portion size to meet his needs? Was it cost effective?

If you have any other questions about how the program is working for us, please leave me a comment and ask! I will be sure to answer it in my follow up post.

Have you yourself used MOMables? If so, please let me know. However, I would love for you to save your thoughts on how it works, or doesn’t work, for your family until my follow up. That way my opinions are not tainted. We can chat and compare notes on that follow up post!!

I promise to come back and give you our 100% honest opinion about the program. We are really looking forward to trying it.

While I was not compensated for this post, I received a complimentary subscription to try out for my family.

7 = 5 ?? or otherwise titled “My Hubby is an enabler!”

So, last night after dinner we needed to run to the pharmacy to drop a couple prescriptions off to be filled. After dropping them off I thought we should go walk around the Outlets for a little while until the stuff was filled. Winter, snow and the outlets being outdoors… at least it wasn’t super cold. It’s actually nice going in the not so great weather, less people. We went in the Sony store to drool over the 3D TV’s, again. I saw a poster that a 3D Smurfs movie is coming out this year!! I am so there!! Not that any of that part is important, back on track… We came to a shoe store that sells boots. Back in October we got me a pair of black Bearpaw’s. I love these boots! I chose them over the practically identical Ugg’s due to price. The Bearpaw’s were about 1/3 of the cost. Hubby asked if I wanted to go in and get boots. I said “We can go in and look, but we are NOT getting anything.” Silly me pointed out a pair of Uggs that I liked. He said to see if they have my size, I said no and kept looking. Well, a very nice sales girl came by and asked if we needed any help. As I’m about to say we are just looking Hubby asks if they have the pair I like in a size 7. She goes back to check as I give him evil looks and keep telling him we are NOT buying anything. She brings a box out. (I’m sure you see where this is going) I reluctantly listen to Hubby and try one on. They fit a little more snuggly than my Bearpaws but considering they have a less bulky look to them, I figured they would. So… Hubby buys them! After going into the Reebok store and forcing him to buy himself a pair of sneakers, that he actually needed as opposed to the boots he got me just because I liked them, we picked up our prescriptions and came home. Well, I of course do what anyone would do, put the new Uggs back on my feet! As I’m playing around with the “authenticity” sticker Hubby notices that the box says ‘USA size 5′. Now I know he asked for a 7. I know I tried them on and they fit. I had them on my feet right then and they were comfy. How does 7 = 5??? We chalked it up to them being from Australia. They are upside down so maybe it makes sense… maybe???
This is how my Hubby is an enabler by buying me boots I love but didn’t need.

I wore them today…. Love is not a strong enough word!!
